About Me
Hello and thank you for checking out my blog! My name is Jennah Lynn Terry and I’m Previvor, wife and dog Mom from a small town in Northern California. I’ve been married to my husband Steve since August of 2014 and we have two Labrador Retrievers, Dude and Rusty. I’m a lover of the outdoors and grew up camping with my parents and grandparents. I fell in love with the beauty that the outdoors has to offer, and the adventures that it brings. For my 21st birthday I skipped the clubs and instead grabbed a 30 pack of beer and went camping with friends. I’d much rather be out in the woods than in any city. Besides camping, I enjoy hiking and exploring the mountains of Northern California. I’m always down for an outdoor adventure and love to explore new hiking trails and meet new hiking friends. Nature and fresh air is my therapy and I try to get outside any chance I get. I’m intrigued by allure of the Pacific Crest Trail and have a dream to through hike the entire trail one day in my Mom’s memory.
I graduated from CSU Chico in 2012 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Interior Design. From 2015-2020 I ran and co-owned an interior design business in a historic downtown. I absolutely loved it and learned so much running my own business. In March of 2020 I decided to walk away from that business and start a new chapter in my life. I’ve had a tough past few years since my Mother was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer and I watched her fight. We lost her in November of 2018 and from that point on my life was completely changed. Through her diagnosis I then found out about a gene mutation I possessed which highly increases my risk of getting breast or ovarian cancer. I became a Previvor on January 24th, 2020 when I underwent a prophylactic bilateral mastectomy to eliminate that risk. This has been a life changing decision and I would do it all again if I had to. My husband and I made the choice not to have children so I also underwent a prophylactic salpingo-oophorectomy (removal of my ovaries) to avoid an ovarian cancer diagnosis. Through these life changing obstacles my heart has drifted away from my business, and I decided it was time for me to explore other passions in my life and focus on my health. I look forward to living a worry free life after undergoing these surgeries. Now more than ever I feel the need to focus on myself and to work on healing and moving forward in my life. One of the things that helps me de-stress and feel at peace the most is to be out in nature, so I decided to start this blog to share both my Previvor journey and my many outdoor adventures. I hope this blog gives other women the confidence to face their fears and find the strength they need when faced with mountains to climb!
